KL Over the Weekend

29 Jul

It’s been a while since I had the mood to update what’s going on. I hope things will pick up soon anyway.

Nonetheless, some pics from the trip that was planned quite some time ago..We were invited to Azhar’s place at Sri Tiara (free lodging ftw!) so we just headed there for the weekend, while the rest stayed back to catch the Arsenal match.

As much as a quick getaway was a good breather, I hardly had a chance to catch a breath. We had to rush straight after work to the airport on a Friday night to catch our flight, and by the time we were in KL in the comforts of his place, it was almost 1am. And then rushing back on Sunday night, and reaching SG near midnight, before preparing for work the next day. It was quite tiring I must say.

The whole trip was basically just lazing, watching White Collar, and catching up on movies like 21 Jump street and more..

Saturday, we headed to the mall near his place for some casual Jap food. It was not too bad, but for the price we paid, I shan’t complain! Exchange rate was pretty damn good too. SGD 1=MYR 2.5!

One thing I like about Msia is that it has some character as compared to SG. Character as in some old heritage stuff that makes the bustling city still interesting. This Police mail box caught my attention!

We did some grocery shopping for breakfast and lunch the next day before heading back home to rest before dinner..

Our dinner at Pavillion – Mexican cuisinePhotobucket

Ordered the beef and chicken fajitas

BurritosPhotobucket

That was only half of what we ordered..we were so stuffed

Headed over to KLCC to laze abit..an obligatory tourist shot of the towers

Movie Time! Caught Dark Knight Rises at The Gardens, and we chose the premium seats category which had couple seats.. and its was only RM28! The show’s one of the best I have seen in a while..Photobucket

Phuket 2011

22 Jan

Such an over dued post on our holiday! Felt like this was months ago, when we only went there during Christmas! Good break where we just lazed most of the time..Our 5 days trip in photos!

Day 1

Phuket – after touch down!

Photobucket

Our stay – Aspery Hotel. We paid almost double for the peak season but it was worth it nonetheless! (: And cos there was a dvd player in the room, we brought 6 dvds from Singapore! *gasp*

Our first meal in Phuket – Western meal room servicePhotobucket

After lunch, we were up and about to check out our surroundings and get our bearings right.

1st stop: Patong Beach.
Just round the corner near our hotel, took us about 7-10 minutes to walk there.Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

We didn’t stay long at Patong Beach to tan or anything. Just to check out the crowd..

Headed to Junceylon Shopping Centre. The mall wasn’t too shabby actually, pretty nice with a cinema and some common shops.

Photobucket

We headed back to the hotel at late noon and napped till 9pm haha. Feeling like we wasted some time, we went to grab dinner nearby. Was super excited to get some authentic Thai food but it was pretty disappointing, so no photos. I think their dishes are cooked specially to cater to the Westerners there. That means, not spicy AT ALL.

Day 2: Patong Beach x Simon Cabaret Show

The hotel next to ours!

Photobucket

Spent like almost 4 hours at Patong Beach just relaxing with our books. Rented 2 chairs for 100baht each for that whole period. Around noon, there were a few ‘hawkers’ coming by with their huge baskets selling pre-cooked food. We had a barbequed corn and some fried prawn and chicken thing.

Headed back to the hotel after a while and wanted to swim at the rooftop pool. But….Photobucket

We just headed back to prepare for our night activity in the end!Photobucket

Photobucket

The Simon Cabaret Show! Lots of pretty transgenders performing..it was unbelievable! Some were actually really HOT. They had a variety of performances like cultural dances and modern songs (lady gaga etc) and PhotobucketPhotobucket

After the show, everyone gets to see the performers up close. You get to take a photo with them as well, but of course they would be expecting some tips. I stole some really lousy shots ):

Ahhhh.. so pretty!Photobucket

Day 3: Full day Similan Island Tour

We had to get up at like 6 something? It was a 1.5 hour bus ride to the jetty..yawnsPhotobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

No, that’s not our boat ride haha.Photobucket

The jet boat ride to Similan Island was about another 1.5 hours. They insisted everyone take a motion sickness pill before the ride. True enough, it was kerazeeeee! The ride was so bumpy that every 30 seconds our butts would fly off the seats. Some  poor girl sitting opposite us was puking non-stop.

We did some stops in the middle of the sea to snorkel. My first few tries were bad and I thought I just didn’t know how to snorkel. The water kept entering my nose and I kept choking. Changed my equipment and it worked!

Disembarked at an island for lunch break!Photobucket

Photobucket

PhotobucketAnother few stops in the middle of the ocean and we were heading back to Phuket. Another 1.5 hours of bumpy ride and close to puking, and we were back on land. We should have just chosen Phi Phi Island or somewhere nearer zz

Headed to the road side seafood stall near to our hotel for some dinner. It wasn’t that enjoyable cos we still felt like we were on the boat, swaying and bobbing around.

Our green curry crab – only in Thailand 😀

Photobucket

Weird pincers which we didn’t dare to eat at first.

Day 4: Doing nothing

After so many days, we only went to try our hotel breakfast on the 4th day.

Quite a good spread (:

Photobucket

And we decided to spend our day at the rooftop pool!

Day 5: Junceylon Shopping Centre

Did some shopping and lunched there.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Headed back to our hotel to do manicure and massage!

Photobucket

Yup, this marks the end of 5 days! It was a good break away from work and stress, I must say. Recharged us a fair bit for 2012.

Tomorrow’s CNY!!

Happy New Year! (: Let’s hope this Dragon year will be a good and prosperous one for all!

The incomplete Hong Kong trip

16 Dec

Our 4D3N trip to HK was super rushed and a tad unfulfilling. Nonetheless, we met Sam (albeit for a rather short period) and spent time with the Uncle. Tough job doing the balancing act. Hopefully we’ll be there soon again!

Took the super early jetstar flight at 630 in the morn and all we wanted to do was sleep. But I had the worst type of passenger next to me – a mother with a toddler. Horror of all horrors, she lifted the handrest between us, and my personal space was invaded for the rest of the flight. First she folded one leg and had her knee rested on my seat. I had to move closer to M just to feel comfortable. Then she stretched her leg diagonally into my foot rest area and I had to move again. I was probably only taking up 2/3 of my seat and the rest was for her.

Touched down and headed to CityGate Outlet mall where we shopped abit and headed to Royal View Hotel.

Our accommodation for the trip. Pretty much inconvenient, not near the MTR at all and we spent S$300 on cabs cos of this.

Note to self: stay in our own hotel in the city the next time.

PhotobucketOur first night in Hong Kong at Central! Roasted pigeons for dinner, desserts thereafter and we visited Sam’s apartment! And then we headed to Lan Kwai Fong ….

Photobucket

Day 2! Citygate outlets again! Lunch affair at Watami with Sam and then Haagen Dazs..

We had to head off after a short while ): really wished we had more time just to laze around and catch up..

Photobucket

Day 3 with the uncle. Visited Chi Lin Nunnery, Prada Outlet, i-square, woodhouse, The One etc etcPhotobucket

This trip was so rushed that I laugh thinking back. It’s quite funny that we didn’t eat a single dim sum or charsiew or bo lo bun and all that defines HK and M didnt visit any touristy areas like The Peak or Disneyland.

Maybe one day we will pay HK a proper visit and do all things touristy worthy of that place. Till then, I’ll try to satisfy my food cravings from the pseudo HK cafes around Singapore.

We’re packing our bags!

15 Nov

FINALLY FINALLY!

After 6 months of working, we’re going to have a good holiday! Make that 2 actually 😀  I cant wait!! And they are both in December. Overkill, I know. But it’s the holiday season anyway!

And since her gruelling job is finally over, there’ll be a short break before starting on her new job..that’s where we’ll squeeze in our first trip!

Hong Kong
9 Dec – 12 Dec 2011

We’ll be heading to Hong Kong. Mainly to visit Sammiewham..we can’t wait!! 😀 Hopefully we can squeeze in abit of everything – eating, shopping, sightseeing, Macau! I have yet to find a hotel though..! 😡

Phuket
25 Dec – 29 Dec 2011

And the long-awaited trip to Phuket! I almost started to believe that we were jinxed NEVER to visit Phuket. Our first trip was meant to be in April this year, which we forfeited our tickets because I had just started on my new job – something unforseen at the time of buying the tickets. Luckily for us, the tickets were barely $100.

This time, we almost didn’t make it again, cos of M’s job where she’ll be starting in mid December. We were planning to forfeit the tickets already. Thankfully, her job requires her to take block leave during the Christmas season just like me! So Phuket is still on!

Pristine beaches, here we come!

Ok I’m sure the beaches are probably not that pretty, but I hope it’ll be close?

Phuket

Aspery Hotel booked! I hope it looks similar to the pictures.. since I took really long to decide on one. I especially need clean rooms and toilet.. I’m anal like that.

Can’t wait for December..meanwhile, I shall enjoy my November! More exciting activities to come..
